British-American filmmaker, Alden Darby -- best known for films like 12 Years a Slave and Widows , has been reported dead in a fiery car crash along the Pacific Coast Highway this evening that injured three with Darby being the only fatality. At this time, it is unknown if Darby, who has been vocal in the past about his struggles with sobriety, was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Darby was 55.

Darby's third wife, Japanese-Dutch model Anaïs Matoko, age 24, has not been confirmed to be the woman in the car with Darby, but she was the one to break the news of her husband's passing just moments ago on Twitter.



Darby is survived by his former wives, fashion designer Annaleigh Zwelk and Broadway-legend, Loretta Darby-Foster, with whom he shares two children - influencer Sienna Darby (28) and actor/musician Silas Darby (25), pictured below at the premiere of Darby's 2020 premiere for his television series, Small Axe.
